Sweden, Assange and the USA

It is almost a certainty that the editor of WikiLeaks will be turned over to the United States if he is extradited to Sweden.

Sweden has requested the extradition of WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange from the United Kingdom, and legal proceedings are expected to commence at the start of the new year. Due to the extraordinary behaviour of the prosecutor in charge of the case, questions have been raised about the prospects of Assange receiving impartial justice in Sweden.

Far more serious is the risk that he might in turn be extradited from Sweden to the United States, where he has been the target of hysterical accusations and violent threats in a lynch-mob atmosphere that has been stirred up by the government, mass media and political demagogues.

Thus, a key issue to be considered in the U.K. extradition process is whether or not Mr Assange’s civil and legal rights will be ensured if, as seems certain, the United States requests/demands his extradition from Sweden in the event he is returned to that country. >>

BDS Flash Mob: Lady Gaga Motorola Boycott for Palestine!

From St Louis Palestine Solidarity Committe:

More than forty members and friends of the St Louis Palestine Solidarity Committee (STL-PSC) gathered at Best Buy and AT&T for a flash mob urging holiday shoppers to Boycott Israeli Apartheid and Hang Up on Motorola!

One of the participants was arrested as he was attempting to leave the parking lot. Call the police in North St Louis and you're lucky if someone shows up, but disrupt three minutes of Christmas shopping and you are busted!

Visit our website and learn more about the illegal Israeli occupation of Palestine: ‪http://www.stl-psc.org‬

Update: After publication on Ynet, we received an unusually high volume of racist, homophobic, and sexist attacks, prompting us to screen comments to filter out hate speech. All other comments, positive or negative, will be approved.

Palestine: Yet People Celebrate (Christmas 2010)

At Christmas time people around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem, Palestine. They celebrate a birth that was meant to propagate a set of ideals to make the world a better place. Some 2,010 years later, that same birthplace is plagued by a regime that practises the exact opposite of those ideals. Bethlehem is surrounded by a racist wall of biblical proportions, by regime which is racist to biblical proportions. Yet people celebrate.

The people of Palestine also celebrate. They need to, as any other people would need to celebrate. After all it is the season to make exceptions. In this season, people make exceptions when it comes to their spending, to their diets, to the way they treat each other. So it is only logical to make an exception by putting an effort for the land, the homes and people of the birthplace of Christmas, for justice in Palestine.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year
